3ds Max

Fully supported

A 3ds Max render farm service that fits your existing workflow

RenderSonic's 3ds Max plugin adds render farm submission to your existing workflow. Scene state, cameras and render elements are captured automatically, and referenced assets - including V-Ray proxies and Corona scatter data - are synced ahead of the job.

Built for 3ds Max

Native submission panel

Submit without leaving 3ds Max - no exporting, no separate uploader application.

Render elements preserved

Multi-pass and render element setups come back exactly as configured, ready to composite.

Proxy & asset sync

V-Ray proxies, Corona scatter objects and referenced textures are detected and synced automatically.

Render hardware

Render 3ds Max on CPU or GPU - your choice

You choose for every job whether it renders on CPU nodes or GPU nodes, so each scene runs on the hardware that suits it.

CPU nodes

Server and workstation-class processors for CPU renderers and for scenes too large to fit in GPU memory.

  • AMD EPYC128 or 256 GB RAM
  • AMD Ryzen128 GB RAM
  • Intel Xeon128 GB RAM

GPU nodes

NVIDIA RTX cards for GPU-accelerated render engines. Your scene's geometry and textures need to fit in the card's video memory (VRAM).

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 509032 GB VRAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 409024 GB VRAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 309024 GB VRAM
  • NVIDIA RTX A400016 GB VRAM

Which should I choose?

Choose GPU
For GPU-accelerated engines, when speed matters most and the scene fits within the card's VRAM.
Choose CPU
When a scene's geometry and textures exceed GPU memory, or the render engine runs on CPU only.

3ds Max questions

Which 3ds Max versions are supported?

3ds Max 2025 and 2026.

Which render engines does RenderSonic support for 3ds Max?

V-Ray, Corona, Arnold, ART and Scanline are supported.

Can I render 3ds Max scenes on CPU or GPU?

Yes - you choose for each job. CPU nodes run AMD EPYC (128 or 256 GB RAM), AMD Ryzen (128 GB RAM) and Intel Xeon (128 GB RAM). GPU nodes run NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 (32 GB VRAM), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 (24 GB VRAM), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 (24 GB VRAM) and NVIDIA RTX A4000 (16 GB VRAM).

Do I need to collect assets manually first?

No - RenderSonic scans your scene for referenced textures, proxies and linked files and syncs them automatically before the job runs.

Are Forest Pack, RailClone and tyFlow supported?

Yes - all 3ds Max plugins are supported, including Forest Pack, RailClone, tyFlow, Phoenix FD, Anima and FumeFX. If a plugin you rely on isn't listed on this page, tell us and we'll add it. Cache tyFlow, Phoenix FD and FumeFX simulations before submitting so every node renders the same result.

Should I render V-Ray, Corona or Arnold on CPU or GPU?

Corona renders on CPU, so choose CPU nodes. V-Ray and Arnold each have CPU and GPU modes: pick GPU for speed when the scene fits in the card's VRAM (up to 32 GB), and CPU for very large archviz scenes with heavy geometry and textures.

Are render elements and multi-pass setups preserved?

Yes. Render elements and multi-pass setups come back exactly as configured in 3ds Max, ready to composite, and finished frames land in your local output folder automatically.

What kinds of 3ds Max projects benefit most from a render farm?

Animations, archviz walkthroughs and high-resolution stills gain the most, because a render farm processes frames in parallel instead of one after another on your workstation. RenderSonic shows the estimated cost and time before you commit.
